SWIG, A belated pre-announcement (if such a thing can exist) ... SemWeb Interest Group meeting at W3C Technical Plenary 2006-03-02 (thurs) Mandelieu, France Agenda: to follow Chair: Danny Ayers Room: Riviera A Every year, W3C has a Technical Plenary meeting. This years event is back in Mandelieu, France (27 Feb - 3rd March 2006), and we've usually had a SWIG meeting. This year, we nearly missed the opportunity due to my post-W3C globetrotting, but I'm delighted to announce that Danny Ayers has agreed to run a Semantic Web Interest Group meeting during Tech Plenary week. Thanks Danny! :) The SemWeb Coordination Group agreed last week to give us a meeting slot (*) on Thurs 2nd March. I'm sorry this announcment comes late, and will therefore appeal more to people who will be at the Technical Plenary anyway for other reasons. The opportunity to go ahead with the meeting came late, and it seemed worth taking; sincere apologies to SWIG members who (like me) won't be able to attend. Danny will circulate more agenda info later in the week, but I wanted to get this pre-announcement out quickly since I know folk are already making plans. If you've agenda ideas and requests, I'd suggest simply following up in this thread. If you'd rather take things offlist, do please copy Danny too. http://www.w3.org/2005/12/allgroupoverview.html is the page for the entire meeting. This page is public; there may be some W3C Member-only pages nearby, but I think everything you'll need is public. http://www.w3.org/2005/10/tp6groups.html provides a list of room allocations (ours is the first row, room "Riviera A", borrowed from SWBPD WG). The room capacity is 35 participants plus 35 "observers". As we're a fairly informal Interest Group, not a busy busy Working Group, the concept of "participant" versus "observer" hasn't traditionally been maintained very strongly in SWIG meetings. I'll leave it to Danny to figure out how best to structure things this time, but the basic idea is that we have a nice big room with space for about 35 chairs in the middle, and 35 around the edge. The SWIG is a public group (the closest we have to a membership list is the membership of semantic-web@w3.org). The meeting won't be restricted to W3C Membership; however we would like to know in in advance who is attending (room logistics, agenda planning, etc). We don't yet have the web forms set up for this; details to follow alonside draft agenda. I think that's about it for now. Thanks again to Danny for stepping in to run this :) cheers, Dan (*) We're using a room originally allocated to the SemWeb Best Practices and Deployment WG. I mention this here as it may well still show up as such in some of the meeting room logistics info.
