Apologies for cross-postings. Please forward to interested parties. =================================================================== Call for Papers First International Workshop on Teaching Web Intelligence In conjunction with the 2005 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence (WI) & Intelligent Agent Technology (IAT) September 19, 2005, Compiegne University of Technology, France http://eurise.univ-st-etienne.fr/TWI05/ Web Intelligence is a recent research direction that spans a wide variety of scientific domains ranging from Artificial Intelligence to Advanced Information Technology. The diversity of the research domains that are involved is an advantage to tackle difficult problems and to build complex intelligent systems. But this diversity also implies that researchers and developers are kept abreast of various technologies in order to be Web Intelligence experts. This raises the question of the educating of students who would become Web Intelligence experts. The question can be addressed from multiple aspects. For example, the composition of an academic program dedicated to Web Intelligence, or the methods that should be investigated to teach the specific features of Web Intelligence technologies (if any). The aim of the workshop is to pionneer questions about education issues about Web Intelligence. The topics are focused on but not limited to the following: - Experiences in teaching specific technologies related to Web Intelligence - Contributions of courses in Web Intelligence to other fields (economics, medecine, ...) - Content of a possible academic program for Web Intelligence students: Which technologies should be taught ? At which level: Undergraduate ? Graduate ? ... What is the mandatory or recommended content for such a program ? - Expectations of industry and research labs about the skills and knowledges of postgraduate students in Web Intelligence Contributions about other issues related to the problem of teaching Web Intelligence are also encouraged.
