In starting work on this document, it occurred to me that the document should not only provide identifiers for the "features" of xhtml that @implements might point at, but also provide a grounded mapping for values of @version. In this way a follow-your-nose processor could determine what version of XHTML was in use in a document and how that version relates to others. Maybe, anyway. If nothing else, it would allow us to have an extensible registry for XHTML versions. This would have an impact on the permitted values of @version, of course. We already reserve values starting with the characters 'xhtml', so perhaps that is enough. Thoughts? -- Shane P.
