Discussion of ISSUE-190 on the call today led to almost-agreement that relaxed path validation should be axed. The side effect of that would be to downgrade the error interaction for expired certificates in 5.5.1 to warning messages (aka idiot boxes). The current draft has "danger", i.e., hard failure.
