Usability, Psychology, and Security 2008 (UPSEC '08)
April 14, 2008
San Francisco, CA
Sponsored by USENIX, the Advanced Computing Systems Association

----------------------------------------

Don't miss Usability, Psychology, and Security 2008, taking place in San
Francisco, CA, on April 14, 2008. This one-day workshop will bring
together an interdisciplinary group of researchers, systems designers,
and developers to discuss how the fields of human computer interaction,
applied psychology, and computer security can be brought together to
inform innovations in secure systems design. The paper presentations
explore a broad range of topics including how people reason about
privacy and security, attacks that exploit user perception, and methods
for studying users as they interact with security systems in the lab and
in the wild.

UPSEC '08 will also include a session for Work-in-Progress reports. We
encourage you to submit abstract or proposal for a 5-minute presentation
on your preliminary work to upsec08chairs@usenix.org.

First USENIX Workshop on Large-Scale Exploits and Emergent Threats
(LEET '08)
April 15, 2008
San Francisco, CA
Sponsored by USENIX, the Advanced Computing Systems Association

---------------------------------------

Join us at the First USENIX Workshop on Large-Scale Exploits and
Emergent Threats, which will take place in San Francisco, CA, on April
15, 2008. LEET has evolved from the combination of two other successful
workshops, the ACM Workshop on Recurring Malcode (WORM) and the USENIX
Workshop on Hot Topics in Understanding Botnets (HotBots), and will
focus on the underlying mechanisms used to compromise and control hosts,
the large-scale "applications" being perpetrated upon this framework,
and the social and economic networks driving these threats. Sessions
include Attacker Behavior; Measurements, Uncertainties, and Legal
Issues; New issues; and more.

The full program is available at:
http://www.usenix.org/events/leet08/tech/

LEET '08 will also include a session for Work-in-Progress reports. We
encourage you to submit abstract or proposal for a 5-minute presentation
on your preliminary work to leet08wips@usenix.org.

Connect with the broad community of researchers and practitioners who
focus on worms, bots, spam, spyware, phishing, DDoS, and the
ever-increasing palette of large-scale Internet-based threats in
fostering the development of preliminary work in this diverse area and
stimulating discussion of thought-provoking ideas.
