@mode provides a very weak negotiation mechanism, especially since the list of modes supported exist only in the OPTIONAL detail elements of a fault generated. Optionality is the curse of interoperability, perhaps someone might be motivated on interop grounds to open a new issue to drop the optional fault detail elements. thanks -bob
