That's not what placeholder means though. If you clear out the text in a text field, it goes back to showing a placeholder. Doesn't seem like a custom border makes sense in that case. I also expect the placeholder style would never apply if there is no placeholder text. So if styling unused controls is really useful, that needs to be a separate pseudo-class. Regards, Maciej
