In Europe, since the start of 2018 regulation requires to ask the buyer to select the brand it want to use when paying with a payment card supporting more than one brand. It is typically the case with CB (Carte Bancaire) in France where card are affiliated to two brands, CB and VISA or Mastercard. As a consequence, using a CB/VISA or CB/Mastercard card in France requires the merchant to ask the buyer to select if he want to realize the payment using CB, VISA or Mastercard network.
