I think you started well - it was me derailing it by nitpicking.

Sorry, I have a tendency to bite on the details sticking out and forget 
to comment on what's smooth.

Here, what I forgot to mention was that I think you would be a great 
spec author, and I support your (subtle self-)nomination.
