In ODS you have in-built support for OpenID, OAuth, Persona. You also 
have support for Webfinger and Fingerpoint based profile discovery. You 
also have a "synonym" feature for expressing coreference between URIs 
(any URI scheme). Finally, you have an in-built reasoner for handling 
inverse functional property relationship semantics, since ODS was 
developed using OpenLink Virtuoso.

If you build a solution using a DBMS that can reason against entity 
relationship semantics as delivered via RDF, you get the identity 
disambiguation and reconciliation functionality gratis.
