There has been some talk about moving structured cloning into
ECMAScript proper and exposing the primitives. But TC39 does not seem
particularly receptive unless it comes with a way for someone to
participate in the structured cloning algorithm with custom objects.

But yeah, I think this should definitely be an API of sorts eventually.
