@slightlyoff [wrote a post](https://infrequently.org/2015/06/progressive-apps-escaping-tabs-without-losing-our-soul/) defining progressive web apps. Many people are now talking about PWAs and building PWAs but there is no clear definition and some have started building PWAs which do not seem to embrace web best practices (e.g. [thematic consistency](https://www.w3.org/TR/mobile-bp/#tc)).
