I do not worry much about the naming. These terminologies are used internally and we can rename them anytime without impacting web-facing APIs. On the other hand, in term of interoperability, we should have a rough consensus on the following: > The intention of the current spec is: Shadow DOM should work even for a composed tree (of component trees) whose root tree is not a document tree.
