@bzbarsky I'm not sure why you saw the need to flame. I think that change was discussed with implementers back then, but I can't find context. Unfortunately commit messages back then were lacking. Certainly since then almost all changes are made after discussion with implementers and stakeholders. Often as the result of PRs reviewed by said implementers.
