I've looked through this repo as well as in the public-webapps mailing list, but I've not seen any formal proposal for custom pseudo-elements as a way to style 3rd-party web components. Does one exists? I've seen the idea mentioned by a number of people in blog posts, conference talk slides, f2f summaries, etc. but I can't tell if there's actual movement on it or not. If nothing of this sort exists, I'd be happy to submit a proposal or outline the case for why they're necessary and why custom properties (though also necessary) are not sufficiently able to meet all reasonable 3rd-party component styling use cases. --- Reply to this email directly or view it on GitHub: https://github.com/w3c/webcomponents/issues/298
