Related to this is a new WebKit proposal for a [Media Session Coordinator][1] API to enable synchronised playback across devices. This appears to be built on the Group Activities framework on Apple devices - see [this video][2] from WWDC 2021 for more on that. (Interestingly, the WebKit explainer references the Timing Object proposal).
