‘Immediately surrounding text’ meaning in SC 3.1.2

Hi all,

An update of the French Authorized Translation of WCAG 2.2 is in-progress, and a question emerged about properly translating "the immediately surrounding text” in SC 3.1.2 [1].

In the context of this success criterion, does ‘surrounding’ have a slightly different meaning than ‘adjacent’ that needs to be taken into account? Or would ‘immediately adjacent text’ have the same meaning?
