Hi Gez, At the last WG meeting the WG decided to not define FOCUS because it actually has different meanings in different places. Also, people know what it means that can do something about this. It was felt that there was a problem with people reading fast and mistaking "receives focus" with focus. So in the Guide doc we can just put a note to clarify this and it would be more effective than two definitions that the user would have to decipher and integrate to get the same conclusion. Make sense to you? If not give me a buzz. Gregg -- ------------------------------ Gregg C Vanderheiden Ph.D. Professor - Ind. Engr. & BioMed Engr. This issue has been raised in relation to Guideline 3.2 Level 1 Success Criteria 1 [2] "When any component receives focus, it does not cause a change of context." A change in focus is not the same as receiving focus. As Andi Snow-Weaver raised this issue, I think it adds weight that we do provide a definition for focus and receives focus. If it's difficult to understand by members of the working group, there's a good chance it could be misinterpreted by those who have not been involved or following the progress of WCAG 2.0. I read in the minutes of the 29th September meeting [3] that there was a resolution from the working group not to define focus, and Andi was present at the meeting.
