RE: Agenda EvalTF Telco - regrets

Hi Richard,

Personally I understand the section on a higher level: What Techniques for WCAG will we be looking at when evaluating the website. To give an example: If a website has Flash on it. Will we also look at the Flash Techniques for WCAG when evaluating the website or do we evaluate if it 'works' without Flash? This could be important if it runs on a controlled company intranet etc. Or if the website is completely made in Flash, will we also evaluate the CSS techniques for WCAG?

Does that make sense? Would you agree on leaving it like this for the public review and to take up this discussion further directly after publication? Off course if the other EvalTF members agree with that.
Kindest regards,

Eric

Dear Eric and Eval,

I am afraid that I will be stuck in central London again today.

I am still unhappy with the text part of section 3.1.5 Step 1.e: Define the
Techniques to be Used (Optional). I do not see how you can use WCAG
techniques (such as "provide alternative text for all images using the alt
attribute") to do the actual evaluation. You can look for the use of WCAG
techniques to evaluate whether the designer has employed them, and thus made
the site accessible, but you cannot *use* these design/building techniques
yourself as part of the evaluation process.

Evaluation techniques include things such as using particular evaluation
tools (2.3), Review teams (2.4), combinations of AT, Source code analysis
etc.

Regards
Richard
