ACT Rules for evaluation tools and methodologies

Dear WAI Interest Group,

Wouldn't it be helpful if all accessibility evaluation tools and methodologies produced accurate, consistent results? A major step toward that goal is W3C WAI work on Accessibility Conformance Testing (ACT) Rules.

ACT Rules are specific tests for an accessibility standard. For example, an individual ACT Rule tests that an HTML page has a valid language tag, which is a requirement in the accessibility standard WCAG 2 [1].

ACT Rules are primarily for evaluation tool developers and evaluation methodology developers. They are also useful for testers who want more details on a specific point, for example, when researching edge cases.

More info is in:
       About ACT Rules
       https://www.w3.org/WAI/standards-guidelines/act/rules/about/

WAI publishes information on ACT Rules implementations. Implementation reports on specific tools are linked from:
       https://www.w3.org/WAI/standards-guidelines/act/implementations/

*To evaluation tool developers*: We encourage evaluation tools and methodologies to implement the individual ACT Rules and to share your implementation report on the WAI website.
