RE: Voice Interaction Community Group -- getting started

Hi All

I’m UX designer specialising in voice and natural language interfaces. I work for Sabio Ltd a customer contact consultancy and systems integrator, based in the UK. Aside from UX I have an industry background in speech science and am very familiar with SRGS, VXML, SSML, etc… We have a lot of interest in virtual assistants in our customer base and keen to be involved in the standardisation process.

I'm Alexandre Morgaut

I was previously a W3C AC member representing the 4D Company which provide a platform (Wakanda) to create end-to-end Javascript based Business Applications

I am now working for Wiztivi (another french company) which create Web Interfaces (EPG, VOD, Replay, interactive channels, operator device UI, ...) mostly on Television, Set-top-box, Gaming Consoles, but also more recently on mobile, tablets, and smartwatch

I've always been concerned by accessibility and UX, so I'm very interested by Voice input/output interactions via our supported devices to control and consume videos (potentially with audio descriptions), program informations, home automation, or anything

As of today, I've been mostly looking to CSS aural & Web Speech API, and I had fun working on a Twilio plugin for Wakanda (phone calls controlled by JavaScript), but I'm very interested to see how other technologies are really used in practice (VoiceXML, SSML, ...)

So far we have 8 participants, so how about if we get started? I think it would be great if everyone posted a note to this list introducing yourself and saying what topics you’re interested in working on.
I’ll start by saying that I’m a consultant in speech technologies and I’ve been working on speech and multimodal standards since the beginning of the Voice Browser Working Group in 1999. I’m the Chair of the Multimodal Interaction Working Group and I also belong to the Accessible Web Platform Working Group. I think all of the topics in our mission statement are important, but I would probably be most interested in dialogue management languages.
