5 July Working Draft of Architecture Document available

The W3C Webmaster has published the 5 July 2004 Working Draft of
the Architecture Document:

This draft includes changes based on the TAG's review of
the 8 June 2004 Editor's Draft [1]. 

A diff file [2] is available, showing the primary differences
between the 8 June draft and this one. One editorial change that
made "diff" hard to use was moving the section on general
architecture principles from the front of the document to the
back. In order to make [2] useful, I edited the 8 June draft to
move that section to the back, and compared that version with the
5 July draft. The diff is thus mildly inaccurate, but much
more useful.

A list of changes is available [3]. The changes take into
account:

 a) Resolutions at the TAG's 28 June teleconf [4].
 b) Comments from Stuart Williams [5].
 c) Comments from Dan Connolly ([6],[7],[8],[9])
 d) Norm Walsh text (edited) [10].

For the next few months, Norm Walsh we be Acting Editor of the
Architecture Document, which I greatly appreciate.  I look
forward to reading the document as the TAG continues to address
Last Call issues.

More details:

 a) Stuart's comments: I believe I took into account his
    (usefully) numbered comments except the following: 2, 3¸
    6, 7, 9, 10, 14, 20, 21, 26, 28, 35, 38, 39, 41, 42, 43,
    44, 45, 48, 49.

    Also: I made some changes for 36 but that GPN needs more
    attention.

    I observe that two main themes emerge from SW's untreated
    comments:

     a) "Identify": Do all instances mean pathayes:c or
        pathayes:d or both? Is it a critical problem?

     b) "Ownership" concept needs more precision.

 b) I believe I made changes to address all of DC's comments
    except the question about the intent of section 2.4.1.
