RE: [Alarm API] Use cases

Hi,

The notion of System Message has not been included in the Alarm API because it was not specified anywhere yet. I know that since then Mozilla made a RunTime specification draft including System Messages but the RunTime specification is still in very early stage. We actually have several RunTime specifications at the moment and the merged spec does not currently define System Messages.

I agree with you though that the Alarm API specification will likely need to be updated once the Runtime specification is a bit more mature and defines the notion of System Message (or an alternative mechanism).

Kr,
Christophe DUMEZ.

It's not really clear what is supposed to happen if I'm in another application and an alarm from a different application goes off (I guess it's kinda platform specific, but maybe this can be clarified a little bit?).

The original intent was to have the Alarm API using a System Message
instead to notify an application. I am not sure why this hasn't been
included in the specification.
