The InstaVerse Cometh!

It looks like Meta are building a Mastodon compatible app for instagram
users

500 characters max, possible June launch.  If so they might quickly become
the biggest player in the fedivsere.  Likely they will have their on
federation, given that they have built out their own protocol over many
years.

Incidentally, its a little known fact that the facebook graph API actually
gives back high quality linked data, if you ask for it.  It adheres to the
linked data standards (last I checked) over and above what most of the
fediverse does today.

It will be interesting to see if that affects how protocols emerge, in a
similar way to mastodon's API, which is the current de-facto standard.
