Re: The term: "Mastodon" vs "fediverse" vs ...?

I don't think the Fediverse is a bad name. I kind of like it, but maybe I
am a "geek".  One person I know said it makes them think of "the Feds".

I have an affinity for the name Mosaic, which I think has a nice metaphor
of being separate but connected. It is a relatable name and not too on the
nose. I know this name has history as a Web browser.

Even if we want to change the name I doubt we have the power to inspire a
change it language just by announcing a new name. Naming of the
decentralized social Web seems like an emergent phenomena that will follow
whatever naming is in place at the time of mass adoption. So if we do want
a name change I suspect we would also have to significantly enhance the
existing Fediverse while calling it this new name. Only by building the
next phase of this movement could a new name be sticky enough.
