Hi all in the SWD group, following Guus' very good recommendation, I wanted to introduce myself a little to the group. I'm one of the two new members from DERI, Galway (the other one is Siggi Handschuh). We are supposed to work mainly with Elisa on the vocabulary management principles document (especially the parts related to maintenance policies and version identification). I already sent around a document with our basic ideas about possible contributions. I have recently worked on the topic dynamics in ontology lifecycle within a "dynamics-oriented" Knowledge Web research WP2.3, lead by Siggi Handschuh. Our research in KW led to our membership in the SWD grop (among other things). I hope that we will be able to transform this research background into a responsible contribution to the aforementioned document. Something about my personal background - chronologically, I have a BA from political sciences and from journalism and also BSc and MSc from theoretical computer science (specialisation AI and NLP). Currently I am a DERI, Galway intern and, in parallel, a PhD student at Masaryk University, Czech Republic (since March, 2006), where I obtained all my previous degrees. However, I am currently moving on a full-time PhD to DERI, Galway, starting from April, 2007. Besides the work on ontology dynamics in Knowledge Web, I have also a little more "personal" research interests, related to an alternative inference paradigms that could provide meaningful and efficient (though not complete and formally decidable) reasoning for and in learned ontologies. Feel free to ask for anything else you'd like to know! I look forward to the cooperation in the group. Best regards, Vit
