The Open Data Institute is hosting Solid26 Preview: Building Personal Apps
and AI Agents

— a free, in-person hackathon in London on April 28–29, coinciding with the
launch of Solid26

For those new to Solid, there is also an optional workshop day on April
27th, where you can learn directly from ODI experts before the build begins..

Solid is an open-source technology invented by Sir Tim Berners-Lee (yes,
the inventor of the World Wide Web) that lets people truly own and control
their personal data. Solid26 is a fixed version of the specifications to
build against, and this hackathon is your chance to be among the first
developers in the world to build on it — whether you’re a seasoned Solid
expert or have never heard of it before today.

🏆 The winning team takes home a £1,000 prize — and top teams will present
their projects live at the 2026 Solid Symposium <https://sosy2026.eu/> on
April 30th, in front of the global Solid community, including Sir Tim
Berners-Lee himself.

There are two tracks to choose from:

• Citizen Data Track – ideal for newcomers, with pre-built data models and
template codebases provided. Build something useful and show what happens
when apps and AI agents actually talk to each other on behalf of citizens.

• Open Track – build whatever you want. A personal AI agent? A
privacy-first health app? Go for it.
