Hi everyone, I would like to follow up on the next steps in the chair election process https://www.w3.org/community/solid/charter/#choosing-a-chair For this message, I'm wearing my CG co-chair hat 🤠The nomination period is officially over. I would like to say a big thank you to all three candidates who submitted their self-nominations to the mailing list! In chronological order: * Christoph Braun https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-solid/2025Nov/0002.html * Oghenerukevwe Precious Oritsedere https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-solid/2025Nov/0003.html * Theo - @thhck https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-solid/2025Nov/0004.html Given that the election was called for two seats, and we have 3 candidates. We, specifically current chairs and candidates, will be collaborating on setting up voting and will be coordinating daily over the Matrix channel #solid_specification:gitter.im Meanwhile, I would encourage everyone to engage with all candidates. For example, by: Replying to one of the three self-nomination emails with questions for the specific candidate. Creating a new thread on the mailing list with a question to all three candidates. Preferably with the subject line including something related to your question. Technically, there are two other options available besides holding a vote: * One of the candidates could withdraw their self-nomination * I could resign and vacate the third chair seat Either one would result in a matching number of chair seats and candidates and conclude the election. I'm going to consider vacating the third chair seat over the next couple of days. Since there should be 6 people sharing all the effort related to running the vote, I expect it to run smoothly as long as we are coordinating it well. I mostly remember the drill from the 2023 election, and we still have some tooling made then. As part of that process, I'm going to organize (over mentioned matrix channel) a special short-notice meeting, aiming for all the candidates to be present and as many as possible of the current chairs. Depending on how much common time we will be able to find. We will allocate time for real-time coordination of the voting process. I would also like to make part of that meeting open to the whole community as an opportunity to hold a conversation with all the candidates. I hope to be able to share concrete details in the next 2-3 days. Please stay tuned. Best regards, elf Pavlik
