Welcome Guangyuan Piao and John Breslin! So pleased to have you join
the Social Web Interest Group.

Hello Social Web IG folks -- Please meet some new members, from Insight
Centre for Data Analytics<https://www.insight-centre.org/about/mission>
(formerly DERI) at the National University of Ireland, Galway. Insight
is a joint effort between 4 Irish universities and Science Foundation
Ireland, to study and develop skills with 5 main areas of big data &
data analytics:

*         Semantic Web

* Sensors and the Sensor Web

*         Social network analysis

*         Decision Support and Optimization

*         Connected Health

John is a lecturer at the Insight Centre for Data Analytics, and
Guangyuan Piao is a PhD student. I have not met Guangyuan Piao, so will
wait for him or John to do the introductions. (Could you start with what
name you would like us to use? And perhaps some pronunciation clues? :-)
I did find Guangyuan Piao's web site<http://parklize.blogspot.ie/>,
which has lots of interesting Semantic Web references. I also gleaned
that he's Korean.

John Breslin has long been involved with the W3C and related Semantic
Web communities. John is the creator of "SIOC --
Semantically-Interlinked Online
Communities<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semantically-Interlinked_Online_Communities>",
and co-authored the books "Social Semantic Web Mining" and "The Social
Semantic Web".  Here's John's web site<http://www.johnbreslin.org/>.

John and I had a long chat yesterday. I gave him an overview of what's
gone on so far in the WG and IG. He has particular expertise and
interest in the vocabulary aspects of our work. Unfortunately he has a
conflict during the time of our F2F in Paris. But said he might send a
graduate student -- could that be Guangyuan Piao?

Wow, what a couple great additions to our team! Plus, we just met Lynn
Foster, and we await to meet Jason Haag.
