Minutes from today's HCLS TC -- Thanks Susie!

(raw transcript with links here-- http://www.w3.org/2007/03/22-hcls-minutes.html)

   HCLS - March 22, 2007

Attendees: EricP, EricN, Susie, Vipul, Don

VK reviews Mondays call. Many tasks identified, e.g. mapping neuronames
to mesh. Discussion on how to use pubmed. Alan will explore further.
Everything is on track. Olivier written up issues with identifiers.

SS - Goal is to demo live, but to always have a backup.

VK - Perfuse and faceted browsers are the preferred interface, rather
than OntoWiki. EricN wants to discuss Exhibit, Alan R discuss Perfuse.

SS - The demo will show a range of integration approaches including RDF
to RDF, light OWL usage, and OWL inferencing.

EN - Including examples that aren't all focused on ontologies would be
   good.

EN - Thinks continuing to enhance OWL is a good thing. Is unsure as to
how the proposed enhancements help the life sciences. Puning seems to be
   one of the big things.

VK - Hasn't seen a use case for puning. Data type reasoning
enhancements sound valuable. Rule chain inclusions would be very
valuable. Qualified cardinality constraints is another enhancement, but
can be done with OWL as is. Transition shouldn't be too painful as
enterprises haven't adopted OWL yet, and open source software already
   supports OWL 1.1.

EN - Is there anything that should be done regarding an IG writing a
letter of support for a WG.

ACTION: VK and AR to write a letter of support for OWL 1.1.

EN - DIA conference report. Conference on clinical data management. NCI
and CDISC were the big pushes. Everyday there was a cdisc standards
session. People are aware of HCLS. Lot of confusion about ontologies and
terminologies. Vendors are providing expensive systems. Timely to talk
about SemWeb. One good angle is cost. Most of cdisc is about xml
transport. There is growing interest in the SemWeb. Invite to present to
the FDA on SemWeb. NCI is reluctant to embrace SemWeb, and spreading
some incorrect information. Lots of confusion.

EP - Planning to organize a W3C Workshop in the fall on incorporating
   relational data into the SemWeb.

VK - Could expand the relational workshop to include web services too.
