Hi,
the new standard OGC EO JSON-LD tries to shift from XML formats to
JSON-LD+GeoJSON. It seems interesting to use schema.org vocabulary, but
it iseems incomplete for EO (Earth Observation) services:
1) missing taxonomies ported to schema.og
a) Sustainable Development Goals (SDG taxonomy) with goals,
targets and indicators are missing.
b) Essential Climate Variables (ECVs taxonomy) with two-level
hierarchy are missing
Is there any plan to include new taxonomies to schema.org or
does it remain external?
- If yes, how is the process of adding new vocabulay to
shema.org?
- If not, how is the process of creating an external
vocabulary that can be read and interpreted by search engines?
The only information that I have found is
"https://schema.org/docs/extension.html", but it seems definitely
insufficient to me.
2) additional extensions needed
a) EO Service might probably extend Service entity in schema.org
b) EO Dataset might probably extend DataSet entity in chema.org
c) Additional classes might be relevant to include, such as
domains and segments (market and user perspective) covered by the EO
services and/or datasets
A similar question as before applies here, what is the process
to propose extensions?
Any comments are welcome. I think EO data represents a huge amount of
structured data that can be exploited in the web.
