Which properties do I fill out first?

Hi,

I'm a newbie to structured data, and I'm trying out the LearningResource 
<https://schema.org/LearningResource> type. For a type supported by 
Google Search, I start with what Google recommends 
<https://developers.google.com/search/docs/data-types/article#structured-data-type-definitions>.

However, for types that are not supported by Google, how do you figure 
out what properties to fill out first? Is there a resource or guideline 
I should follow?
