How about:

The growing use of distributed, network-based delivery mechanisms (aka "the
cloud") has seen a concentration of web content and software service
delivery in the form of  Content Delivery Networks (CDN) such as Akamai,
Cloudflare, and Amazon Cloudfront

Where "the cloud" gets some definition as well...
