Hello, I have some questions regarding requirement 5 in the latest Wiki entry for Design Constraints [1]. It reads, "RIF should accept UML instances as data". UML instances is a bit ambiguous as it is not entirely clear which metalevel you mean. I believe that you really mean instances of a UML model (or Objects in UML parlance), but as written I would be inclined to read it as instances of the UML metamodel (aka models). If this is what you mean then please change the requirement to read:"RIF should accept UML model instances as data", to disambiguate. Assuming that you mean objects, then in how and in what form do you expect to encounter these objects: through some oracle to a UML or MOF repository as in 2.2.4, as serialized data in XMI form, through some JAVA or other mapping to UML, or through something else? Also, what is the genesis of this requirement? Did it fall out of PRR compatibility? I don't object to it. I just somehow missed its introduction into the list. Sorry if any or all of this was covered in the FTF yesterday. I was on the line for that, but couldn't really hear the discussion well. -Evan Evan K.
