To prepare for the telecon tomorrow, I thought I'd go through the RDF WG charter and find all resolutions made related to JSON-LD over the past year. The charter text on RDF and JSON is pretty straight-forward: http://www.w3.org/2010/09/rdf-wg-charter#scope """ Define and standardize a JSON Syntax for RDF (see the Workshop result page for further references). The goal is to provide an RDF serialization as complete as possible (including to multiple graphs and graph stores, see work item listed below), but features may be ignored and special syntax features may be introduced if that would greatly facilitate the adoption of the JSON encoding by the Web Application developers’ community. """ The current JSON-LD specs being published by this group achieve everything stated above in the charter, which is good. I hadn't looked at the charter text in a long time and it's nice to find out that we're aligned quite nicely with it. This is also a deliverable in the charter: * RDF JSON Syntax Specification This also means that if this group decides to not publish JSON-LD as a REC, that they'd have to come up with an alternate RDF/JSON mechanism to achieve the charter requirement or chose to fore-go publication of an RDF in JSON mechanism. Resolutions ----------- Other than the resolutions to publish JSON-LD Syntax and JSON-LD API as a FPWD, this is the only other resolution this group has made regarding JSON-LD: RESOLVED: RDF-WG to publish JSON-LD syntax spec, and stripped-down version of JSON-LD API spec with framing and normalization removed, as FPWD, with intention to go on recommendation track -- http://www.w3.org/2011/rdf-wg/meeting/2012-05-30#resolution_2 Hopefully, tomorrow will result in a few more /concrete/ resolutions related to exactly how the RDF / JSON-LD alignment should happen. -- manu -- Manu Sporny (skype: msporny, twitter: manusporny) President/CEO - Digital Bazaar, Inc. blog: HTML5 and RDFa 1.1 http://manu.sporny.org/2012/html5-and-rdfa/
