Just my $0.02 on this: I do think the spec is somewhat ambiguous on this particular point - we don't define what it means to have a "valid @rel or @rev URI". Specifically, we don't state what happens when the author specifies rel="". I still do think that the following CURIE should be generated, per the spec: <> dc:creator <ben.jpg> . However, I also see specifying: rel="" as very different from specifying rel="foobarrel" In the first case, the author meant to stop chaining by specifying rel="". In the second case, the author did not mean to stop chaining by specifying rel="foobarrel".
