The plain meaning of 2.4 is that we aren't *required* to do update; that's not the same as update being illicit or illegal or a violation of the charter. At the very least, I think we should have a conversation about these issues in order to "expend reasonable effort to ensure that such extension is easy". Heh, in fact, "the group may include such an ability", so, in fact, it's *not* outside the charter. Kendall
