The type system of XQuery is "based on", not identical to, the full type system of XML Schema, including both simple and complex types. It adds some types not found in XML Schema (maps, arrays, sequences), and ignores some details of XML Schema. The 'datatype system' of XML Schema Part 2 does not cover the types of XML Schema Part 1. XQuery / XPath is "based on" both. I think the appropriate thing to do here is to close the bug as INVALID/WONTFIX. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the QA Contact for the bug.
