Björn, This is a personal, not a WG, response to http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-qt-comments/2006Jan/0083. Would it be any better if the XSL WG had changed the wording to "each element is optional"? That seems clearer to me. Hope this helps, Jim From: Bjoern Hoehrmann <<mailto:derhoermi@gmx.net?Subject=Re%3A%20XSLT20%3A%20matching-substring%20and%20non-matching-substring%20vs%20%22optional%22&In-Reply-To=%253Ccd5is1pnab9rpo1sdu73u0no27u1nfhcsk%40hive.bjoern.hoehrmann.de%253E&References=%253Ccd5is1pnab9rpo1sdu73u0no27u1nfhcsk%40hive.bjoern.hoehrmann.de%253E>derhoermi@gmx.net> Date: Sat, 14 Jan 2006 16:21:21 +0100 To: "Michael Kay" <<mailto:mhk@mhk.me.uk?Subject=Re%3A%20XSLT20%3A%20matching-substring%20and%20non-matching-substring%20vs%20%22optional%22&In-Reply-To=%253Ccd5is1pnab9rpo1sdu73u0no27u1nfhcsk%40hive.bjoern.hoehrmann.de%253E&References=%253Ccd5is1pnab9rpo1sdu73u0no27u1nfhcsk%40hive.bjoern.hoehrmann.de%253E>mhk@mhk.me.uk> Subject: XSLT20: matching-substring and non-matching-substring vs "optional" Cc: <<mailto:public-qt-comments@w3.org?Subject=Re%3A%20XSLT20%3A%20matching-substring%20and%20non-matching-substring%20vs%20%22optional%22&In-Reply-To=%253Ccd5is1pnab9rpo1sdu73u0no27u1nfhcsk%40hive.bjoern.hoehrmann.de%253E&References=%253Ccd5is1pnab9rpo1sdu73u0no27u1nfhcsk%40hive.bjoern.hoehrmann.de%253E>public-qt-comments@w3.org> > * Michael Kay wrote: > >In my view the language of the spec is correct.
