In section 7.4.5, fn:normalize-space(), it is stated:
The whitespace characters are defined in [XML 1.0 Recommendation (Third
Edition)] and in [XML 1.1 Recommendation]. The choice of which definitions to
use is ·implementation-defined·.
Presumably the reference is to the metasymbol S (production 3). However, this
metasymbol has the same definition in both versions of XML, so the choice that
appears to be provided here is an illusion.
