Re: Agenda W3C [PBG] call for TPAC Meetings 10/13 and 10/14

Dear all,
just FYI

On the discoverability side Fondazione LIA has realized an integration of its accessible e-books catalog available on the Alexa and Google stores (it is called «Catalogo LIA»). The application allows the search in the catalog and the reading of the metadata (including the accessibility features of the files). We are planning to integrate the link for direct purchase through a connected device.

All my best
Cristina

We have quotes we want to create a widget for to work with a connected speaker so you can say “give me a quote from one of my favorite authors”

Reading books through smart speakers or similar devices is gaining huge traction. It would be nice to make progress in this direction.

With regards

Bill-

WoT relates to publishing when:

  * We have a photography or art book that we want to be able to have the images shared to a connected frame
  * We have quotes we want to create a widget for to work with a connected speaker so you can say “give me a quote from one of my favorite authors”

There are lots of possible use cases where publishers and authors might find new uses for our content via the web of things.

We thought it would be an interesting thing to start discussing because publishers are looking for new business opportunities and the WoT team are looking for possible use cases that help them with developing the standard.

It should be fun!

Liisa

I'm also curious about how WoT relates to publishing.
