Re: Meeting on Feb 24: was Next PubSC call, EPBUBCheck dev status

Just a quick note before I go offline for today.
For having a productive meeting on Feb 24, it would be good to have some responses from survey available.
Without getting some hint of what the community wants, we may end up going in circles again.

With regards
Avneesh

Avneesh and I spoke about the possibility of having an SC face to face meeting when he will be in New York for an AB meeting. I could host it at Wiley on 24 February if there is interest.

The AB Meeting is at Wiley on 25-27 February.

Can we also get an update on the survey for future EPUB features?

    Hi,

For our PubSC call tomorrow, I’d like to bring to your attention the following subject :`

    validator.idpf.org

    Status

a.. Updated for free by DAISY in January 2019 to EPUBCheck 4.1.1 (not in EPUBCheck revision plan)
b.. Statistics show real usage : more than 4800 unique IPs per month in 2019 (see attached)
c.. DAISY can update it to latest EPUBCheck (4.2.2)

    Issues

a.. Hosted by DAISY Consortium, It is unreliable and goes down frequently and it consumes a lot of server cycles
b.. If we want to keep it
a.. It should be improved to consume less resources and be more reliable
b.. It should not be on idpf.org anymore

Will be a subject on next PBG call agenda

a.. And questioning its utility will be included in the publishing survey

    Best,

    Luc
