Paul, I'm asking you in case you're more familiar with their work (since, you've talked to them…) [from the hip] http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-openannotation/2012Oct/0001.html has a subclass of Activity called "Generating". That seems a bit odd. Wouldn't "Annotating" be a slightly more natural name? I see "Annotating" at the bottom, but not sure how it differs from "Generating"... -Tim On Nov 8, 2012, at 10:42 PM, Paul Groth <p.t.groth@vu.nl> wrote: > good news... > > ---------- Forwarded message ---------- > From: Paolo Ciccarese <paolo.ciccarese@gmail.com> > Date: Thu, Nov 8, 2012 at 4:00 PM > Subject: NEW DRAFT: Provenance > To: public-openannotation <public-openannotation@w3.org> > Cc: "Groth, P.T." <p.t.groth@vu.nl> > > > Dear all, > As a result of the discussions on the mailing list, we confirm the renaming of the following properties: > - generatedBy to serializedBy > - generatedAt to serializedAt > It is common belief that these better represent the original purpose without generating confusion (i.e. algorithms can “generate” annotations as well). > > Also, following on from the past emails and a fruitful in-person discussion with Paul Groth (co-chair of the Provenance Working Group) and Stian Soiland-Reyes, it seems reasonable to provide a simplified mapping to the PROV model. The direct mapping will consist of three simple subproperties: > - oa:generatedBy subproperty of prov:wasAttributedTo > - oa:annotatedBy subproperty of prov:wasAttributedTo > - oa:equivalentTo subproperty of prov:alternate > > The date/times are intentionally not represented above. In order to do so with PROV, it is necessary to adopt a more complicated approach similar of what has been depicted in the figure attached to a previous email http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-openannotation/2012Oct/0001.html. > These aspects will be listed probably in the Appendix of the new specs. > > Best, > Paolo & Rob > > -- > Dr. Paolo Ciccarese > http://www.paolociccarese.info/ > Biomedical Informatics Research & Development > Instructor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School > Assistant in Neuroscience at Mass General Hospital > +1-857-366-1524 (mobile) +1-617-768-8744 (office) > > CONFIDENTIALITY NOTICE: This message is intended only for the addressee(s), may contain information that is considered > to be sensitive or confidential and may not be forwarded or disclosed to any other party without the permission of the sender. > If you have received this message in error, please notify the sender immediately. > > > > > -- > -- > Dr. Paul Groth (p.t.groth@vu.nl) > http://www.few.vu.nl/~pgroth/ > Assistant Professor > - Knowledge Representation & Reasoning Group | > Artificial Intelligence Section | Department of Computer Science > - The Network Institute > VU University Amsterdam
