Looking at PROV-DM again, the range of a PROV-DM Identifier is defined as a 'qualified name', which itself is defined by PROV-DM as A qualified name ◊ is a name subject to namespace interpretation. It consists of a namespace, denoted by an optional prefix, and a local name. --Stephan On Nov 8, 2012, at 4:38 PM, Stephan Zednik <zednis@rpi.edu> wrote: >> ==prov:id== >> I was a bit confused by prov:id. Can you give some examples of what can go in prov:id? It's defined as a QName so I can't put a full url in? Your example of prov:id (prov:id="tr:WD-prov-dm-20111215) uses tr: which is not defined in the namespace. Is this just a mistake? It would be good to see an an example linking out beyond the scope of one document. > > I believe Qname was chosen because it is generally used to reference particular elements within an XML document. Perhaps with the requirement to link beyond the scope of one document we should consider xlinks for references and uris for prov:id instead? >
