On the call today, I mentioned the CIDOC-CRM Ontology that is used by Museums for Art Collections and Cultural Heritage - see http://www.cidoc-crm.org/. The URL for the specification is http://www.cidoc-crm.org/docs/cidoc_crm_version_5.0.2.pdf CIDOC-CRM has a treatment of provenance - being an ontology of artifacts, it has to. Tracing the provenance of a Work of Art is also a good use case. Comparing how this is done in CIDOC-CRM with our work is one thought.
