PING - informal chairs’ summary – 17 September 2015

PING - informal chairs’ summary – 17 September 2015

Please note that our next meeting will be on 22 October 2014 at the usual
time.

Thanks very much to Joe Hall (plus Nick Doty as backup) for acting as
scribe.

* Moving Fingerprinting Guidance [1] to Group Note
We have been planning to publish the Fingerprinting Guidance for Web
Specification Authors document as an Interest Group Note. Nick Doty sent
out a message to the mailing list [2] clarifying the next steps. For
publication as a Draft Interest Group Note, there would need to be
consensus from the group, gathered via the mailing list [3]. If the group
supports it, the goal is to publish a final version by the end of the year.

* Privacy and Security Questionnaire [4]
Greg Norcie and Joe Hall have been spearheading the effort to develop and
refine the Privacy and Security Questionnaire, and provided results from
applying the questionnaire [5] to the Presentation API [6] under review.
Given the work that that TAG is doing on a security questionnaire, we will
communicate with them to determine the best way to coordinate our
respective privacy and security questionnaires (e.g., which items could be
merged, and which work better in separate documents?) We intend to work on
this item further at the October TPAC PING meeting.

* Privacy Reviews and Discussions
There are a number of items for which we are soliciting input from PING
members, through reviews, feedback, or commentary:
- Presentation API [7]
- Secure Contexts - W3C Editor’s Draft [8]
- Tracking Compliance and Scope specification [9]
- Clear Site Data - W3C Editor’s Draft [10]
- Private browsing mode [11]

(A request for contributions was sent shortly after this teleconference, to
try to accommodate some short deadlines for comments. [12])

* PING at TPAC 2015
A reminder that we are meeting during the W3C Technical Plenary on Friday
30 October 2015. Remote attendance via teleconference will be supported for
those who cannot attend in person. Meeting agenda to be circulated very
shortly.
