Dear WPWG, We introduced this document at today’s WPWG call [1]. In response to suggestions during the call I have updated the status section of the document to clarify the following: * To make suggestions to improve the document, please use a pull request in the repo. * To provide input to help prioritize which authenticators should next be enabled for SPC, please send suggestions on this issue: Seeking input on prioritization of increased support for authenticators that can be used with SPC https://github.com/w3c/secure-payment-confirmation/issues/312 Thank you, Ian [1] https://www.w3.org/2025/08/14-wpwg-minutes.html#98c4 > On Aug 5, 2025, at 12:01 PM, Ian Jacobs <ij@w3.org> wrote: > > Dear Web Payments WG, > > In July, Stephen McGruer announced [1] a document [2] about authenticators and SPC, which the WPWG then discussed [3] > at our 17 July meeting. > > Since then, Stephen and I have revisited the story around authenticators and SPC and incorporated details from his > initial document into a new resource for your consideration: > > Authenticators and SPC > https://github.com/w3c/secure-payment-confirmation/blob/main/authenticators-and-spc.md > > One goal of this document is to outline some ways that implementations of SPC could evolve to support > more authenticators, and what would be required from the FIDO ecosystem to do so.
