FYI. As far as I know, both the RIF and the OWL document have a normative dependence on the CURIE spec. I think it is therefore good news that CURIE is advancing on the rec track and this reference will not create problems for the OWL and RIF documents... Cheers Ivan -------- Original Message -------- Subject: CURIE Syntax 1.0 is a Candidate Recommendation (Call for Implementations) Resent-Date: Fri, 16 Jan 2009 14:59:44 +0000 Resent-From: w3c-ac-members@w3.org Date: Fri, 16 Jan 2009 08:59:34 -0600 From: Ian Jacobs <ij@w3.org> Reply-To: w3c-ac-forum@w3.org To: w3c-ac-forum@w3.org Dear Advisory Committee Representative, I am pleased to announce that CURIE Syntax 1.0 is a W3C Candidate Recommendation: http://www.w3.org/TR/2009/CR-curie-20090116/ The approval and publication are in response to this transition request: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/chairs/2008OctDec/0100.html Information can be found below about changes since the Last Call working draft and about the current state of implementations and the test suite. This Call for Implementations follows section 7.4.3 of the W3C Process Document: http://www.w3.org/2005/10/Process-20051014/tr#cfi For Tim Berners-Lee, Director, Philippe Le Hegaret, Interactions Domain Lead and Steven Pemberton, HTML Activity Lead; Ian Jacobs, Head of W3C Communications ====================================== Changes to the specification since the previous Last Call WD can be reviewed via a diff-marked version: http://www.w3.org/TR/CR-curie-20090109/curie-wd-diff.html Details of the comments received on the Last Call WD and their disposition can be found here: http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/2008/curie-lc-doc-20080618.html It should be noted that the XML Core WG were unable to reach consensus on a position with regards to CURIEs, but agreed that the specification should proceed. A test suite with coverage of the primary CURIE constructs is a part of the RDFa test suite: http://www.w3.org/2006/07/SWD/RDFa/testsuite/xhtml1-testcases-20080731/ The Working Group expects to request that the Director advance this document to Proposed Recommendation once the Working Group has completed the test suite and demonstrated at least two interoperable implementations for each test. Based on known implementations, the Working Group expects a CR period of 4 weeks. An ongoing implementation report will be maintained: http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/2009/curie-impl-report.html ============================================ Quoting from CURIE Syntax 1.0 ============================================ CURIE Syntax 1.0 A syntax for expressing Compact URIs W3C Candidate Recommendation 16 January 2009 This version: http://www.w3.org/TR/2009/CR-curie-20090116/ Abstract: This document defines a generic, abbreviated syntax for expressing URIs. This syntax is intended to be used as a common element by language designers. Target languages include, but are not limited to, XML languages. The intended audience for this document is Language designers, not the users of those Languages. Status of this Document: This document is a Candidate Recommendation of the CURIE Syntax specification. It is based upon comments received during the last call period, upon work done in the definition of [XHTML2], and upon work done by the RDF-in-HTML Task Force, a joint task force of the Semantic Web Best Practices and Deployment Working Group and XHTML 2 Working Group. It is considered mature and stable by the working group. A record of how the comments from the last call period were addressed is available athttp://www.w3.org/MarkUp/2008/curie-lc-doc-20080618.html . An implementation report is available at http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/2008/curie-impl-report.html . The working group invites comments on this draft through 6 February 2009. Comments should be addressed to www-html-editor@w3.org. All comments sent to that address are available in a (public archive). The working group intends to submit this document for consideration as a W3C Proposed Recommendation after 6 February 2009 having met the following criteria: At least two interoperable implementations support all of the features required in this document. All issues raised during the CR period against this document have received formal responses. Publication as a Candidate Recommendation does not imply endorsement by the W3C Membership. This is a draft document and may be updated, replaced or obsoleted by other documents at any time. It is inappropriate to cite this document as other than work in progress. This document has been produced by the W3C XHTML 2 Working Group as part of the HTML Activity. The goals of the XHTML 2 Working Group are discussed in the XHTML 2 Working Group charter.
