The 18th International Conference of the Asian Association for Lexicography (AsiaLex 2025; http://asialex2025.cn/) will be held on September 11-13, 2025, at Fudan University, Shanghai, China. AsiaLex aims to promote scholarly and professional activities in the field of lexicography. Founded in 1997, it strives to deepen research activities on dictionaries based on the latest theories and methods, and to broaden networks among lexicographers and other scholars all over the world by hosting conferences and publishing the peer-reviewed journal, Lexicography--Journal of Asialex.



The theme of AsiaLex 2025 is Asian Lexicography: Traditionality and Creativity in the Era of AI. While proposals on all topics regarding lexicography are welcome, AsiaLex 2025 aims to provide participants with opportunities to discuss traditional and/or innovative practices in dictionary-making in Asian countries and beyond and to explore the opportunities and challenges in the field of lexicography in the era of AI.



Submission Guidelines

Presentations concerning any aspect of lexicography and dictionaries in any language are welcome. Those focused on issues in Asian lexicography and dictionaries are especially encouraged. All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. Please refer to the list of topics (including but not limited to) below:

Lexicography and large language models

Challenges to lexicography in the era of AI

Monolingual, bilingual and multilingual lexicography

Pedagogical lexicography

Dictionary use studies

Lexicography and culture

Phraseology and collocation

Neologisms and lexicography

Terminology and lexicography

Reports on lexicographical and terminographical projects



Paper abstracts of a maximum length of 300 words should be submitted through EasyChair: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=asialex2025 before February 15, 2025. Presentations will be 20 minutes in length followed by 10 minutes of Q&A. Please omit any self-identifying references from your abstract.

Deadline of Abstract Submission: 28 February, 2025

Notification of Acceptance:  15 March, 2025

Full-paper Submission: 31 May, 2025

Deadline of Early-bird Registration: 30 June, 2025

Conference Dates: 11 (Thursday) – 13 (Saturday) September, 2025
