To see what experts in legal matters say I had a look into a well known dictionary for economy (sorry, is in German: http://wirtschaftslexikon.gabler.de/) . Sell = is a mutual agreement about transferring the complete ownership of a good including its physical instance from the seller to the buyer and a corresponding transfer of values from the buyer to the seller. Note: this transfer of ownership includes in general all rights linked to a good. . License = the owner of trademark rights or copyrights grants a party to execute all or part of his trademark and/or copyrights. Note: this definition does not talk about if this if for free or for an exchange of values. . Lease = the owner of a good grants a party to use the good for a limited time in exchange of values. To be frank: shouldn't we try to get comments from a lawyer with an international view on this matter? Correct, that was my suggestion as I was trying to clarify the difference between "sell" and "license" if we added the latter. When looking at "lend" and "lease" i noticed we had "the asset is only available by the third-party" in the comments implying the physical world definition. Should we remove these constraints for digital purposes? Then, for consistency with the above defns, we can update the "sell" definition to "The act of making available the asset to a third-party with exchange of value" instead of "The act of trading the asset in exchange of value" ?
